We would like to introduce Hani Sasu – a stained glass artist from Alba Iulia, with working roots and a studio in Mesentea.
Hani’s creative journey began at the Art High School in Alba Iulia, Ceramics department, and continued at the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca, where she studied Ceramics – Glass – Metal.

There she discovered the art of stained glass—an encounter that changed her direction. Glass won her over for good: hard and fragile at the same time, transparent and opaque, full of textures, colours, and endless possibilities. She found herself in it.
Since then, she has been creating unique stained glass for windows, doors, skylights, lamps, decorative objects, and artistic installations—works through which she brings light into the spaces and lives of those who choose them.

A defining moment was her encounter with the village of Mesentea and her collaboration with Atelierul Bynest, alongside Paul Nemes. In the rural environment, she discovered the strength of tradition and the freedom to combine it with her own modernism and minimalism. Here, glass meets wood and metal, and stained glass moves beyond the classic realm and into furniture: tables, chairs—functional pieces with personality.

Being of Saxon origin, rigour and organisation go hand in hand with her creative energy. She is cheerful, open, full of ideas—yet also structured, able to take a thought from inspiration to a tangible creation.
Her creativity keeps her in the realm of one-of-a-kind pieces—whether we are talking about large-scale works or brooches and small objects that tell a story.

Her energy? “Duracell batteries, she tells us!”
She manages to combine art with family, personal development, and education. She has taken—and continues to take—development courses (including Waldorf) and organises workshops, courses, and creative camps for children and adults.

Hani puts in a great deal of passion, spends more and more time in the studio, and is looking for the right commercial direction and legal structure, as well as inspiration and visibility through the EmpowerHER project and the wonderful community that has formed!

Each of us has a different colour—and together we can create a living stained-glass window!
